Power adidas Coaches

SPVC is happy to announce our affiliation with adidas.  As part of this affiliation, each of our power teams will now carry the “adidas” name.  Our power teams are coached to play the highest competition levels, travel further to tournaments, and play as often as possible. We believe with great coaching and competition these players will show tremendous growth and reach their highest potential. Our goal for these teams is to play against high level teams and work towards playing at Regional and National tournaments.

Kalani Pananganan

With over 25 years of coaching and playing experience, Kalani has the knowledge, proven coaching technique and commitment to work with players to ensure the proper implementation and development of athletes. His volleyball coaching philosophy has helped hundreds of student-athletes develop volleyball and life skills.  He takes pride in watching players grow their love and passion for the game. Many continue to play in college, and several have began coaching their own teams. Paul Giacomotto

Head Coach, Power 17's adidas

​Paul's coaching philosophy is to "build or reinforce confidence in players, so they can perform beyond their own expectations in challenging situations".


Paul's 10+ year coaching career began in 2008 with the El Camino High School men's varsity volleyball team. In 2014, he began assisting the El Camino women's volleyball program learning from award winning coaches Martin Soyama, Dave Coad, and Kat Sullivan-Torrez and later that year the team won a Section Championship and made a deep run into State playoffs. Since then, the team has made the Section playoffs each year including another push into State playoffs in 2016. In 2018 and 2019, Paul coached the El Camino men's varsity volleyball program with Trevor Meyer to back-to-back Section Finals and NorCal playoffs. pgiacomotto@yahoo.com


Paul's daughter, Gianna (L/DS) joined the SPVC family in 2014 and Paul himself began assisting under Martin Soyama (Coach of the Year and Hall of Famer) at SPVC in 2016. Last year, Paul helped lead a 17 adidas team from Bronze to the Silver Division and played in the Windy City Qualifier in Chicago, Illinois.

Deanne & Mikaela Nocetti

Head Coach, Power 15's adidas

Deanne grew up in San Diego playing volleyball and continued to play collegiately at the University of San Francisco as a middle hitter.  She has coached college, high school, middle school and club programs over the past 25 years in San Francisco and Sacramento. Most recently she coached the SPVC 13 Power team in the 2014-2015 season.  Deanne is the Vice President of the Hurliman Scholarship Foundation and enjoys her time with the students she assists on their college journey.  She Is Double Goal Coach Certified with the Positive Coaching Alliance and has assisted PCA with girls empowerment events. nocettid@sbcglobal.net

Mikaela is entering her 2nd year of coaching for SPVC. Most recently, she was an assistant coach for the 12’s Adidas team and was also a coach for SPVC Beach during the summer of 2018. Mikaela played club volleyball for Five Starz VBC in Davis and was a 4-year varsity player at El Camino High School, where she was a two-time league MVP and the Sacramento Bee Volleyball Player of the year in 2014. Mikaela started her collegiate volleyball career at University of Portland before transferring to Sacramento State. During her indoor volleyball career, she was a two-time first team all-Big Sky Conference selection. She also played for the beach volleyball team and was named honorable mention all-Big West Conference her senior year. Mikaela graduated in May with a degree in Kinesiology and is currently working on her single subject teaching credential and Master’s at Sacramento State. She is excited to be coaching for SPVC again this club season!

Katie Hill

Head Coach, Power 14's adidas

Within the last 11 years I have coached for Davis VBC, ARC, Five Starz, SPVC, and ran my own club called CVC.  I was the head assistant coach for American River College 2008-2011.  When I was student teaching I transferred from coaching at ARC to Del Campo and took over the Girls’ and Boys’ program.  In 2013 I started, CVC, a feeder program for Del Campo. 

I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology.  I have been teaching for the past 7 years, previous to that I was a personal trainer for 4 years, and actively playing for 22 years.  I am IMPACT, First Aid/CPR, concussion, Crossfit and NASM certified.  I focus on developing the entire athlete which includes; knowledge, skill, and heart.  

I played for High Voltage and Delta VBC going to Junior Olympics 5 times between 12U and 18U.  I was the captain and MVP for the League and Section champions at Rio Americano. I was the starting Libero for Delta Junior College finishing 2nd in Regionals and also played one year for East Bay University.  

Currently I play sand volleyball in Folsom, grass for VolleyNation, a quads Adult League, and participate in the NCVA Adult League Tournaments. klk05@sbcglobal.net

David Ly

Head Coach, Power 13's adidas

David brings an unparalleled passion and talent for volleyball to SPVC. He started playing his senior year at Galileo High School and earned 2nd team all league honors as an outside hitter. He continued his playing career at Sac State where he played Libero and helped the team get to a top 20 national ranking and 3rd place finish in the NCCVL. David continues his 5th season of club coaching at SPVC. After a 1-year stint at Force Elk Grove, he became a valued member of our coaching staff.  davidly330@yahoo.com

Mark Harrison

Head Coach, Power 12's adidas

A double goal certified coach with the Positive Coaching Alliance, Mark brings over 25 years of coaching experience to SPVC.  Mark was the founder of the River City Volleyball Club (a club made up of St. Francis HS volleyball players), and helped current Sac State Women's VB Head Coach Ruben Volta start the High Voltage Volleyball Club in the mid 90’s. Mark has coached at both Jesuit and St Francis High School, and spent 4 years on the coaching staff of the Sac State Men's Volleyball Team.  Mark coached 3 years at St Ignatius Parish School (where the team won 3 consecutive PAL Championships), and is now in his 5th season as a Head Coach at SPVC.  As a player, Mark excelled at both the indoor and outdoor (2-man) level.  He earned a number of accolades while starring at Sacramento State, where he was a 3-Time All-American and MVP of the teams 1st National Championship. markharrison1212@gmail.com

Kat Sullivan-Torrez

Staff Coach

Kathy (Kat) Sullivan-Torrez comes to Sac Performance with 27 years of coaching experience. She has had the opportunity to coach at the Professional, Div. 1, NAIA, Community College and High School levels. She is a former Division I setter and a USVBA All-American. She has had the opportunity to coach 4 AVCA All-Americans at the Community College level where many of her former players went on to continue their volleyball careers and education at the Div. 1, 2, 3 and NAIA levels. She is currently a professor of Kinesiology at American River College and Junior Varsity Coach at El Camino High School. Kat is also a double goal certified coach with the Positive Coaching Alliance.

Premier Coaches


Our Premier teams are coached to improve the skills of volleyball playing locally against like-minded talent. While they don't travel as often as Power teams, they are active and usually play 1-2 weekends per month. Practice schedules and curriculum are dedicated to getting the most out of the players and teaching fundamentals to improve.

This is Michelle’s 6th year coaching with SPVC. She played for hall of fame coach Debby Colbert at Sacramento State and won three Big Sky Championships as the teams starting middle blocker. During her summers in college, Michelle traveled across the country coaching for the volleyball program Gold Medal Squared. Melissa "Missy" Watts

"Missy" played 4 years of volleyball at Ponderosa High School and helped win a Section Title her Senior year. She played club volleyball and one year at American River before transferring to Sac State on scholarship and played 4 years under legendary coach Debby Colberg. After playing through college, Missy coached at Sac Valley Volleyball Club for 3 years, before coaching at Ponderosa High School for two seasons. Over the last 3 years Missy has coached the 12's and 13's team at SPVC as well as the Freshman volleyball team at El Camino High School. Morgan Potts (Roseville)

Morgan got into the game of volleyball through her dad (Larry Potts). She started her playing career at the age of 10 and continued through Rocklin and Whitney high schools. Morgan has been an official at the high school level (4 years), junior high level (3 years), and currently is a D1 level scorer for college (6 years). She started her coaching career in 2016 and continues to love it more and more every year. The game of volleyball has always been a huge part of her and her family’s lives. Teri brings over 15 years coaching club volleyball to Sac Performance.  With her knowledge and positive coaching style, Teri strives to create a positive team culture that channels players' energy into being the best that they can be on and off the court.  Teri also spent 8 years officiating volleyball and has played the sport for over 30 years. She is a double-goal certified coach with the Positive Coaching Alliance, SafeSport and IMPACT certified, and is CPR and First Aid certified.

Curtis Gee - Club President

Curtis has 30 years of high school coaching and club volleyball experience. He has dedicated his life to the development of volleyball in the Sacramento region. He has been the head varsity coach at Ponderosa HS where he won his first section title. From there, he served as the head coach of Rio Americano HS, Oakridge HS, Loretto HS and he currently serves as the program director of El Camino High School. In 2001 Curtis received the prestigious Gary Colberg Award for his contributions to youth volleyball. In 2002 he was inducted into the Evening Optimist High School Coaching Hall of Fame. Former Hornet volleyball player Ed Jackson completed his third season as Sacramento State’s indoor assistant coach in 2017, and will also serve as the Hornet beach team’s co-head coach for the third straight year in the spring of 2018.During Jackson’s three seasons with the indoor program, Sacramento State has combined for a 72-29 overall record and a 40-8 mark in league play. The Hornets have won at least 20 games three consecutive years, posted back-to-back Big Sky South Division championships (2017, 2016), and have not lost a Big Sky regular season home match during Jackson's tenure (a span of 24 straight wins).
